Christians Must Fight Hate (Racism) Spiritually

Pastor Miles McPherson of San Diego’s The Rock Church believes the best way to battle racism is to do so on “a spiritual level.”

During a sermon he preached on Sunday, McPherson centered his message on racial tensions in the United States following the shooting deaths of black men Alton Sterling in Louisiana and Philando Castile Minnesota, at the hands of police officers last week.

This was followed by racially-motivated shootings in Georgia, Tennessee and Missouri in which civilians and police officers were shot at, leaving one woman dead after being killed by Lakeem Keon Scott in Bristol, Tennessee, while she was driving her car on a highway last Thursday. Later that same day, 12 people were shot during a Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas, Texas. Eleven of the injured were police officers, five later died from their wounds. The man who shot them, Micah Johnson, said he “wanted to kill while people,” specifically white police officers.

McPherson said that combating racism has to go beyond merely “tolerating” others and should focus more on “loving” others instead.

“It’s not a black and white issue, it’s not a police and non-police issue, there’s a spiritual issue going on and as the House of God we need to understand that,” said McPherson.

“And we need to notice that there’s a bigger issue above all of that, and as the people of God we have to fight on that level. What the devil is trying to do is to divide people and cause people to fight each other, shoot each other, and kill each other and point fingers.”

BREAKING NEWS: Thousands Fasting and Praying in Russia After Putin Signs Law Banning The Gospel outside of Church Walls

Note: I just blogged in a previous post what the new Law does. JF

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed into law last week a measure punishing any kind of religious evangelization outside of churches, which some observers have called one of the most restrictive move in “post-Soviet history.”

“This new situation resembles the Soviet Union in 1929. At that time confession of faith was permitted only in church,” Hannu Haukka, president of Great Commission Media Ministries, told National Religious Broadcasters, according to Breitbart News. “Practically speaking, we are back in the same situation. These anti-terrorist laws are some of the most restrictive laws in post-Soviet history.”

The law, which is supposed to be aimed against the spread of terrorism and extremism, has also been approved by the Russian Parliament’s upper chamber. The move blocks the sharing of faith in any place that is not a government-sanctioned house of worship.

Charisma News reported that thousands of churches in Russia are coming together in prayer and fasting against the move, based on information shared by Haukka.

“The church is appalled at the news of the new law. About 7,000 evangelical/protestant churches are in fasting and prayer at the moment over the news,” Haukka said.

The Christian Post reported earlier this month that several Christian groups in Russia have already spoken out against the draconian measures, with the Seventh-day Adventist’s Moscow-based Euro-Asia Division stating that it is nearly “impossible” for religious believers to comply with the requirements.

“If this legislation is approved, the religious situation in the country will grow considerably more complicated and many believers will find themselves in exile and subjected to reprisals because of our faith,” the group said before Putin’s signature.

PRAYERS, PRAYERS AND TURNING TO GOD – TONIGHT AND HENCEFORTH!

Two Black Men shot within 24 hours by Cops.

Ten Dallas Police shot by two snipers at protest.

Tragedy and more tragedy; that is the only way I can describe the madness in our world, our country this week.  Every channel I turn to plays like the scene from the Seventh Sign.  Matthew Chapter 24 rises up in my brain like the sun in the east.  Sin has destroyed the souls of men.  The only thing that can save a dying soul is the living waters of Jesus.  The world is angry and hurt, heck I am as well.  But if I want to see improvements, I must rely on Jesus and Jesus alone.  No law nor amendment can save or change a man’s soul.  Only God, through Jesus, can do what is needed.  So I ask you to do what my family has done tonight, Pray for those who are lost and pray for the families of the deceased.  Pray for our children and youngsters.  Pray, Pray and pray some more.  Turn to God with all of your heart.  Follow him and don’t look back.  You want the madness to change?  Do what me and my family are doing, pray to God for His intervention.  We pray for mercy, changed hearts and peace.
